How to Work Well With Your Dual Delegation

Hi all!

I wanted to share some advice I have from my years as a delegate on working well with your partner during conference.

During speeches, try splitting content between people! Instead of having to memorize the contents of a 1 minute speech, you can each understand half a minute and focus more on delivery. During unmoderated caucuses, it may be helpful to stick together, to ensure that you are proposing the same policies and solutions! Nothing is as irritating as an unmod spent working on a resolution, only to find that your partner has been working with a competing bloc. Lastly, remember that your partner is your strongest ally in debate! No one else has exactly the same policy as you, and collaborating with them will really help you to reach out to more people and to come up with more solutions.

Soccer Player Imprisoned on Red Notice

It seems that countries love to use red notices on athletes. Remember the red notice issued against NBA player Enes Kanter? Well now, Bahrain has issued a red notice against Hakeem al-Araibi, a defender for the Australia's Pascoe Vale Football Club. Imprisoned for over two months in Bangkok after being arrested during his honeymoon, al-Araibi has now been released. The red notice against al-Araibi was first issued by Bahrain, on accounts that the soccer player had been convicted and sentenced in abstentia on accounts of "terrorism-related offenses." The Bahraini government has also been cited by Human Rights Watch as having a zero-tolerance policy towards political dissidents and free media. It's possible that al-Araibi has spoken out against the government, considering that he resides in Australia under refugee status.
